How to Clean Milk Stains In A Car or Vehicle

Posted by kristobaldude on June 5, 2010

Hint:  Vinegar seems to be the best overall answer, although the issue really has not been conclusively resolved. 😦  Review the links below for more info:

RE: Cleaning Milk Stain In Car

By Harvey (Guest Post)

My granddaughter spilled some milk on the rear seat of my car. I wasn’t aware of it until a few days later because it went down the hole where the seat belts come out of and onto the mat that is between the bottom of the seat and the metal car floor. By then the smell was gross. I pulled out the rear seat and spread baking soda on the mat and let it sit overnight but it didn’t help. A co-worker of my wife informed her that she had the same problem in the past and here’s what always worked for her – Coffee Beans! Just spread coffee beans over the area and let it sit overnight. It smells great and absorbs all the sour smell. I spread coffee beans over the mat, replaced the seat on top of the beans and kept it there for three days and then vacuumed them up. It works. The car smells great. You have to use beans, not ground coffee.

Editor’s Note: Ground coffee also works well.

Storage Solutions Wire Storage Cubes & Shelving Units.

Posted by kristobaldude on October 24, 2009

This is hard information to find on the web. 4 years ago (2005), I first discovered these wire storage cubes in Costco in Des Moines, IA around Christmas time. They are rounded-square wire frames with a translucent plastic covering which attach with plastic discs. The plastic can rip if a sharp force is applied with speed. Notwithstanding, the units can hold a lot of weight! I have a configuration of 3 x 4 cubes and each cube is holding about 25-30lbs. of books! Very stable also, and easy to move when empty.

Removal can be tough sometimes, but parts are reusable (even if the plastic connectors break, which they do sometimes, they are still usable!). These modular cubes are 13″cubed and usually come in sets of 3 or 6. The colored ones cost significantly more than the clear white (colored @ $15 for 3 cubes, clear @ $19 for 6 cubes), but can add a nice contrast to the plain white. A word of caution, however: on Amazon.com and Target.com, they are offering these cubes in “pink” and “purple”. I ordered the purple ones, then found out the truth: these are referring to exact same color: HOT-PINK! I didn’t return them myself because I was able to rationalize that they were the color of Energon Cubes from Transformers, so they were still cool. But, they are definitely not purple! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

The brand I have always bought is called “Storage Solutions”. However, since that is such a generic term a google search is usually less-than-fruitful. After ordering a couple sets, here is the company information included in the package:

Industrial Wire Products, Inc.
2005 W. North Service Road
P.O. Box 427
Sullivan, MO 63080
info@indwire.com
(800) 732-6303

One can find these on Amazon.com (hot pink) and Target.com (frost).
